Kallikkad Grama Panchayat has launched an initiative to take care of the post covid patients in their Grama Panchayat. Health Action by People in collaboration with Kallikkadu Gramapanchayat organized a medical camp for Post Covid management on 25th September, 2022 at Kallikkadu Family Health Centre as part of the follow-up service delivery.  The event was inaugurated by Sri.Pantha  Sreekumar, President of Kallikkad Gramapanchayat  .The Medical camp aims to identify the extend of  neuro- cognitive, pulmonary and mental health problems that may occur after the infection of Covid.

Clinical assessments were led by Dr Thomas Iype ( HOD ,Neurology, Medical College Trivandrum) Dr Vidhu Kumar (HOD, Department of Psychiatry,Alappuzha Medical College ) Dr Sanjeev Nair (Associate Professor ,Department of Pulmonary medicine,Thrissur Medical College ) Dr Kamala (Department of Pulmonary Medicine,Thiruvananthapuram Medical college ) Dr Arjun ,Dr Harigovind ,Dr Lekshmi (SUT Medical college,Community Medicine Department ) Dr Aleena (BAMS ) Dr Sridhish (BHMS) Dr Aanandu (BAMS ). The medical camp is coordinated by Dr Ajosh Thampi (Medical officer, FHC Kallikkadu ) Shri Pradeep (Health Inspector ) Shri Arunlal AR (HAP) and Smt Veena A (HAP).

Prior to the medical camp, a survey was conducted on 1352 people who had contracted Covid-19 as on December 2021. Based on this symptomatology study 272 were found to have serious post-Covid complications and the camp was organized to assess these symptoms/ as a referral for those in need of follow up. Clinical examinations were focused on Neurological, Pulmonary and Psychiatrical problems and the physical evaluations included PFT, ECG, Blood Pressure and Diabetes. Our plan was to conduct a series of  medical  camps..

The service provisions for those with persistent symptoms will be ensured by linking the patients to public health facilities under the  Health Department.
