Dr.Ramdas Pisharody Memorial award

Health Action by People (HAP), a non governmental health research organization based in Thiruvanathapuram, has instituted an award as a memorial to the most reputed clinical teacher and research methodology promoter who has been and continues as a source of inspiration for research career for thousands of grooming researchers.

Health Action by People had instituted an Award, named after Professor Ramdas Pisharody was a founder member of HAP retired as Principal of Government Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram. He was an alumnus of this college as well. After graduation, he joined Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh from where he took his MD and DM degrees specializing in Nephrology. He also obtained a Master's degree in Design, Measurement and Evaluation from McMaster University, Canada. He had served as Head of the Departments of Nephrology in Government Medical Colleges at Thiruvananthapuram, Kottayam and Kozhikode and also as Director of CERTC at Thiruvananthapuram. He was an elected Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (England and Glasgow) and has won the Kerala Government's award for the best doctor in the State. He was an eminent researcher and teacher. He passed away on 29-03-2017.

The Award carries a cash prize of Rs.25,000/- and a Certificate.

2017-Dr Priya Sreenivasan MD Department of Paediatrics was selected for the 1st Dr. Ramdas Pisharody Memorial award, for her presentation on “Development of a prognostic prediction model to determine severe dengue in children.” It was awarded bySmt. K.K. Shailaja, Hon. Minister for Health and Social Justice, Kerala on 10th November 2017 at the old Auditorium, Trivandrum Medical College.

2018-Dr.Reyma Sara Raju, Govt medical college, Thiruvananthapuram was selected for the 2nd Dr. Ramdas Pisharody Memorial award, for her presentation on Proportion of Asthma -COPD overlap (ACO) and upper airway symptoms among patients with obstructive airway disease in a tertiary care centre which was presented in a function organised on November 8th, 2018 at the physiology lecture Hall of Trivandrum Medical College. For deciding on the winner of the 2nd Award, the following 3 persons were invited to make a presentation on their Clinical Research before an invited audience.

Variations and Associated Factors in Symptom-to-Balloon (STB) Time and Door-to-Balloon (DTB) Time Before and After the COVID-19 Lockdown: A Hospital-Based Cross-Sectional Study.

Dr. Neeraj Vinod Mohandas,was chosen as the recipient of the 4th Dr. Ramdas Pisharody Memorial Award. This recognition was conferred upon him for his presentation titled "Variations and Associated Factors in Symptom-to-Balloon (STB) Time and Door-to-Balloon (DTB) Time Before and After the COVID-19 Lockdown: A Hospital-Based Cross-Sectional Study." The presentation took place during an event held on March 26th, 2024, at the Government Nursing College in Trivandrum. .
